A fine, single estate Gavi di Gavi, this zesty wine is textured and complex with crisp acidity and mineral notes. A wine with good weight, it has a long and elegant finish with an appealing saline edge.
The Battistina estate consists of 25 hectares of south facing vineyards, divided into distinct areas producing very different wines. The Cortese grapes for this particular wine come from Nuovo Quadro, a single vineyard site at the foot of the estate within the 'Gavi del Comune di Gavi', and is renowned as being one of the best sites in the region. On a unique combination of limestone and clay soils, this isolated bubble of chalky, mineral soil allows full ripening of the Cortese grapes.
Taste guide: delicate aromas of acacia blossom are followed by notes of gooseberry, lime, white peach and pear with a hint of crystallised ginger on the palate.
