A potato desiccant Spotlight® Plus, based on the active ingredient Carfentrazone, is a contact acting PPO inhibitor for use on all varieties of ware and seed potato.
Spotlight® Plus is an extremely safe, effective potato desiccant which does not translocate via the stem to tubers and has been successfully used on potatoes on all soil types and in all seasons regardless of soil moisture since its introduction in 2001.
It is very effective at preventing re-growth by killing the stem as well as desiccating remaining leaves following an initial application of diquat or removal of crop canopy by mechanical means.
Following application stems will take on a slimy appearance and may take 14 - 17 days to show the full desiccant effect.
In situations where a potato crop is well senesced and the stems are clearly visible a single application of Spotlight® Plus is often enough to allow for effective desiccation, however, in vigorous crops a follow-up may be required.
