De Amerikaanse toverhazelaar Hamamelis virginiana is een heester en kan een hoogte tot circa 5 meter bereiken. Het heeft een breed vaasvormige groeiwijze met een bossige, spreidende kroonvorm. Het blad is rond-ovaal, eenvoudig en gewoonlijk groen van kleur. Wel treedt er in de herfst een fraaie verkleuring naar geel, soms gemengd met oranje op. In september-december verschijnen er gele reepjesachtige bloemen met een donkere vlek aan de plant. Na de bloei vormen zich kleine, eivormige vruchten. Deze zijn pas een jaar na de bestuiving rijp.

Hamamelis virginiana houdt van een standplaats in de zon of lichte schaduw. Hij groeit het best op een humusrijke, licht vochtige, neutrale tot zure bodem. Deze plant verdraagt een temperatuur van -35 °C. maar kan tijdens de vorst in het voorjaar schade oplopen.

Glowy but not sure about the spf

My first impression was that this works more like a basic body shimmer than anything else. The Glistening Bronze shade gives a noticeable glow, especially on arms and shoulders. It spreads easily and adds a warm shimmer in the light, but the overall effect feels pretty simple and more cosmetic than skincare focused. In use, the oil blends in smoothly and feels lightweight on the skin. It does leave a bit of moisture behind, similar to a light body oil, and the shimmer shows up well outdoors.
