Fabricating solid surface materials requires tooling that is tough enough to handle abrasive composites without losing its edge. The 85-001 features Freud’s proprietary TiCo™ Hi-Density Carbide, specially formulated to resist wear and provide a superior finish on synthetic surfaces. Crucially, this bit is equipped with a non-marring synthetic bearing. Solid surface dust is very fine and abrasive; if it builds up between the bearing and the sink bowl, it can cause the bearing to seize or drag, potentially marking the bowl. Check the bearing rotation frequently during the cut and wipe away any dust accumulation.
