Built Heavy for 9mm Blowback
Unlike the AR-15 system, the 9mm buffer includes three tungsten weights — because the AR-9 blowback platform needs mass, not just versatility. Heavier is almost always better in a blowback AR-9. The three tungsten weights let you dial in the precise heaviness your specific 9mm build and ammunition require.
In a direct-impingement AR-15, the gas system bleeds off energy before it reaches the BCG. In a 9mm blowback AR-9, there is no gas system — the bolt moves directly from cartridge pressure with nothing to slow it down except buffer weight and spring tension.
