The finish is hand applied,richly antiqued metal leaf that reveals strong leaf lines to match the finest 22k museum frames. There is a rich reddish umber undertone that is rubbed through on the details and edges. This is a three piece, masterfully constructed frame with the middle liner being a one piece routed panel that will never have corner separation. The middle panel is scratched giving this frame an ageless richness. This frame is over 4" wide and 1 1/2" in depth giving this frame a substantial appearance even at a larger 36" x 48" size. The rabbet depth is 1/2" deep but 3/4" to the back of he frame so it will easily accommodate a 3/4" stretcher bar canvas.
